Through the grace of God, I am the proud mother of two young children. While all children are His blessing, Caroline, was a particularly special gift….She was a surprise! When I found out I was pregnant with her, my husband Jon and I had been married for four years, I had just finished graduate school, and I was well on my way up the corporate ladder. Kids were certainly in the long term plan, and let me stress the phrase “LONG TERM”. I was not overly excited about this detour on my well mapped out road, and I did not think I was ready for a child. Eventually, after much thought and prayer, I resigned myself to the “situation”. One thing I knew for certain, I was going to be a corporate mother. I had made up my mind that a baby was not going to interfere with my career.
People ask me all the time. “How do you do it?”
I’ll admit, I do have a lot on my plate….any mother does. There are the soccer games, swim practice, homework, Sunday school, tumbling, piano lessons, etc. that certainly keep us on the go. I’m fortunate that Jon, my husband, has a lot of flexibility in his work and takes the lead on that (and most of our family meals, to tell you the truth.) Trust me. I count my blessings.
